“I started physiotherapy with Calum after my meniscus repair surgery this year, and from day one he took the time to understand my sporting background and return-to-play goals. He is highly knowledgeable, genuinely caring, and provides a structured, personalised plan that has guided my recovery every step of the way. With clear progression checkpoints and outstanding ongoing support via WhatsApp, he has kept me motivated and committed. Thanks to Calum, I’m now running pain-free for the first time in three years, enjoying more dynamic sport-specific exercises, and feeling confident for my half marathon and return to football next year. I’m still working with him in his new space, absolutely worth the 45+ minute commute! I cannot recommend Calum highly enough.”

“I went to see Calum around six weeks ago with a shoulder cuff injury that I had been suffering from for over a year. I was feeling lost in the NHS system, being passed from GP to physio to X-ray to ultrasound, and eventually being told I would need surgery. Physiotherapy consisted mainly of printouts or online links, with little feedback or input. After numerous appointments and nine months in, I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere. The prospect of surgery was worrying: 6–8 months off work and up to 12 months of physiotherapy. I was struggling to sleep, work properly, and had to retire from playing rugby. The injury affected most day-to-day activities and I was generally miserable and at a dead end. I cannot recommend him highly enough. His knowledge and treatment have put me back on track. He is friendly and approachable, always happy to talk things through. He relates treatment and rehabilitation to everyday life and tailors a programme specifically to you. Most of the exercises have been seemingly simple but highly effective — and no printouts! The feedback and advice has been excellent and genuinely motivating. ”

“I can’t recommend Callum at Middleton Physio highly enough! I went in with a very grumpy proximal hamstring and came out with a clear plan, a calmer leg, and significantly more knowledge about what I should and absolutely should not be doing. What really stood out was how thorough everything was — my hamstring wasn’t just assessed once and left at that. It was tested, treated, then re-tested to make sure things were actually improving (which, reassuringly, they were). The gym modifications were brilliant — practical, realistic and tailored to what I actually do. Even better, the exercises weren’t just handed to me on a sheet of paper. They were shown to me properly in the gym so I knew exactly how they should feel and look and videos sent to my phone. Everything was explained clearly in a way that made total sense. I left knowing not only how to rehab it, but how to avoid annoying it again. Professional, knowledgeable, friendly… and home to a truly fabulous artificial plant that deserves its own mention. If you’ve got a stubborn hamstring (or any other grumpy body part, this is the place to go.”

“From being unable to run pain free back end of summer because of an IT band injury, to being back into a training block for an ultra within a few months. Calum’s advice has been invaluable and he’s always on hand to reply to questions no matter how big or small. The phases of recovery were always well explained and in depth with regular testing to maximise recovery and progress concurrently. Will be continuing to use his knowledge as I continue forwards. Highly recommended to anyone!”

“Had an injury to my shoulder just a couple of weeks before I was due to compete in a competition. Calum got me to a place where I was able to compete and work through the injury with clear exercises to maintain the progress when at home.
My go to place for when I inevitably get hurt again!”

“I’ve started with Calum for pelvic / groin pain and had a couple sessions so far. He gave me reassurance in first session which I was looking for and set out a plan for me to follow in the gym / record videos on phone for stretches / exercises to do regularly, to work on the 3 areas of body around the pelvic region, which has helped. He has been very available for appointments and continued support over WhatsApp messaging, which I hugely appreciate. If you are having any problems / injury’s I would highly recommend Middleton Physio :)”

“Can’t recommend Calum enough. A friend had recommended him to help with my knee issues. Listened to my pain/problem and helped me accordingly rather than just giving generic exercises to do at home. Discussed a plan to return to being able to run and then put it into action. Genuinely takes an interest in you as a person on top of the issues you have. Top top man”

“After suffering a painful knee injury, I saw Calum who was friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. After an initial assessment, when I was soon put at my ease, a programme of treatment and exercises was fully explained. I’m happy to say that I was soon without pain and back on track with my walking. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Calum to other people and I have to say that if I had any other similar problems I wouldn’t hesitate to return to him for advice.”

“I saw Calum after having ligament surgery on my ankle, and I can’t thank him enough for the help and support he provided. Before treatment, walking for long periods or doing any high-intensity exercise would leave me in pain. After working with Calum, the pain was completely gone, and I was able to go travelling without any issues at all. His expertise made a huge difference in my recovery!”

Ollie Sharkey

“I went to Calum with a couple of issues(torn meniscus and shoulder injury) and very quickly he worked out what they were and to put a plan together to alleviate the discomfort it was causing me. Very affable and takes the time to explain the process in layman's terms so you buy in to the process. Would wholeheartedly recommend Calum to anyone who needs a physio.”

“I saw Calum after years of back pain, barely able to bend or do everyday things and was adamant that more surgery was the only answer. With his help I shifted my focus from constantly protecting my back to learning to trust it again. The change has been truly life-changing. I never thought I’d be able to bend and do the things I can now. I move freely, have full confidence, and can look forward to retiring next year without worrying about my back.”
